White 240

The white“Miami Vice 240” was our first ground-up commission, crafted for Touring Design co-founder Ryan Webb. Inspired by the 1986 Miami Vice Testarossa, it features Ditzler PPG 90442 white paint and a cream full-grain leather interior with a black dash, capturing the essence of 80s Ferrari style. Originally a 1988 240GD Cabrio chassis used by the Dutch military, the vehicle underwent a complete frame-off restoration. The process included sandblasting the body and frame, replacing any rusted panels with OEM parts, and using underbody sealant for added protection. Gloss black accents and yellow/gold-painted suspension coil springs and brake calipers add unique details.

This 240GD retains its original inline 4-cylinder diesel engine and 4-speed manual transmission. Key upgrades, such as resealing the crankshafts and exhaust manifold, were part of an extensive R&D process. The vehicle also served as a testbed for features like engine head resurfacing and new valve seats, which were later offered in other builds. Inside, the vehicle features cream leather upholstery with matching stitching, covering the front seats, rear bench, and various trims.

Black leather details, including the steering wheel and controls, provide a sharp contrast. Modern amenities like an integrated AC system, power steering, and a single DIN Continental head unit with Pioneer speakers and a subwoofer were also trialed here.

Additional elements like the wood floor on the rear deck and LED halo headlights were first developed in this build. The Miami Vice 240 was pivotal in our development process, serving as the R&D platform for many features that have become standard in our offerings. Its blend of classic style and modern upgrades not only turns heads but also laid the groundwork for future Touring Design projects.
